Highly capable women often assume household, relationship, and parenting responsibilities. Performing tasks for partners can undermine male partners' sense of being needed and reduce their appreciation. Men commonly value being needed first and then being appreciated for their contributions; when women do everything, men may take those efforts for granted and feel their self-worth is threatened. The same dynamic can produce less capable children, especially boys who are not given responsibilities. Intentionally stepping back from tasks and allowing others to contribute can increase partner engagement, appreciation, and overall family wellbeing.
