Luohu functions as the eastern node of Shenzhen's linear urban development and did not prioritize the relationship between the city and its natural environment in early planning and construction. Modern functional and transportation planning were implemented in a simple and crude manner. Buildings and urban living spaces were arranged primarily according to demands of functionality and efficiency, with nature relegated to a backdrop. People of all ages, identities, genders, and backgrounds were treated as functional objects within efficiency-driven planning. Spatial superposition is proposed as a resolution for density to reconfigure urban form and reconnect the city with nature.
Luohu, as the east node of Shenzhen's linear urban development, failed to prioritize the relationship between the city and its natural environment in its early urban planning and construction. Instead, it simply and crudely implemented modern functional and transportation planning. Buildings and urban living spaces were arranged on the land according to the demands of functionality and efficiency, with nature serving only as a backdrop to the man-made city.
