A 51-year-old counselor, Alberto Rangel, was fatally stabbed at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The suspect had previously threatened multiple staff members, prompting long-standing safety concerns among hospital workers. On the day of the attack the suspect went to the San Francisco City Clinic in SOMA searching for a targeted doctor; when that doctor was not present the suspect went to SF General. Union leaders are calling for a hospital security review. San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins addressed the incident. The California Department of Public Health is conducting a full investigation into the circumstances.
