Santa Clara Co. DA gun task force dismantles 'ghost gun factory' in Campbell
"These 3D printers are items that are easily kept in a person's home, and that is what makes them so challenging for law enforcement,"
"Whether he was possessing for sales or simply as a possession item, these are public safety risks."
Santa Clara County prosecutors dismantled a home-based ghost gun operation in Campbell. A 28-year-old man faces more than 30 felony charges for possessing and manufacturing unregistered firearms and devices that convert standard weapons into automatic weapons. Investigators discovered an active 3D printer making conversion devices inside the suspect's bedroom closet during a routine domestic violence probation check. The suspect told investigators he was making toys for his children. Bail was set at $1.75 million. Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a law banning the sale of firearms easily convertible to machine guns, increasing legal scrutiny.
