Rodent infestation temporarily closes downtown SF fried chicken sandwich spot
"Chicken G's, at 346 Kearny St., closed Thursday following a routine inspection by the San Francisco Department of Public Health after rodent droppings were seen throughout the restaurant space. According to a report reviewed by SFGATE, rodent droppings were spotted on the kitchen floor, under beverage dispensers, on flour bags in the basement and in other areas of the restaurant."
"Chicken G's will need to remove all evidence of rodents, hire a licensed pest control operator, and clean and sanitize the space. It will also need to vermin-proof the space by sealing off gaps larger than a quarter inch, including sealing the opening of a walk-in cooler that also had rodent droppings inside. Copies of California's mandated food safety certifications for managers and food handlers have also been requested by the Department of Public Health."

The business remained closed as of Monday and had not been reinspected. Required corrections include removing all evidence of rodents, hiring a licensed pest control operator, cleaning and sanitizing, and vermin-proofing by sealing gaps larger than a quarter inch. The department also requested California-mandated food safety certifications for managers and food handlers.
