Women and LGBTQ+ people were approximately twice as likely to experience more severe mental health trajectories throughout the two years of the pandemic, according to the study.
The paper, published recently in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, followed the mental health of the same group of 653 young adults aged 18-34 from July 2020 and June 2022 as part of the national Alone Together Study.
