Health officials working to contain Shigella outbreak in Santa Cruz County

According to a release from the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency, 27 cases of shigellosis have been reported in Santa Cruz County since late January.
Shigellosis, according to the county, is an infection caused by a bacteria known as Shigella that is easily spread from person to person with symptoms that commonly include diarrhea, stomach pain/cramps and fever.
