Virginia AG's office says it was struck by 'sophisticated cyberattack'
Briefly

A sophisticated cyberattack has targeted the Virginia Attorney General's office, compelling it to shut down its computer systems completely. Chief Deputy Attorney General Steven G. Popps communicated to the agency's employees that they would need to transition to paper court filings due to the attack. With most systems offline, he utilized his smartphone for communication. As investigations are underway by the Virginia State Police and FBI, no group has claimed responsibility, and details about any ransom demands remain unclear.

Virginia State Police and the FBI are currently investigating the cyberattack that forced the shutdown of Attorney General Jason S. Miyares' office's computer systems.
