Workshops on sexual consent in college - what every student needs to know
Briefly

Workshops create a space for students to explore more than what they might have found out from school, TikTok, YouTube, or their parents. By participating in these workshops, students learn about consent in a comprehensive manner that is often lacking in other sources of information. The aim is to empower them with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities when it comes to sexual intimacy, ensuring that all interactions are pleasurable and safe.
Active* Consent comes from a sex-positive perspective - we believe that if you decide to be intimate with another person, it should be pleasurable and safe for you both. This philosophy underlines the importance of ongoing communication between partners as a fundamental aspect of consent. Workshops are designed to equip students not only with information but also the confidence to engage in meaningful conversations about their own boundaries and desires.
We also inform students about how to recognise sexual violence and harassment, and how to intervene if you see something that shouldn't be happening. This proactive approach helps students not only to protect themselves but also to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. It emphasizes that bystander intervention is a crucial part of building a consent culture on campus.
