Tata Steel is set to close a blast furnace in Port Talbot, resulting in more than 2,500 job losses despite government efforts to secure better redundancy packages.
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds highlighted the deal under Tata Steel as an improvement, but admitted it is not ideal due to past governmental failures in worker protection.
