Plex ups its price for first time in a decade, changes remote-streaming access

Plex is raising the prices of its Plex Pass subscriptions for the first time in over a decade, effective April 29. Monthly fees will increase from $5 to $7, while annual subscriptions will rise from $40 to $70. The lifetime pass will jump from $120 to $250. Plex cites rising costs and a commitment to personal media. A significant change is that streaming personal media outside one's network will become a paid feature, necessitating either a Plex Pass for server owners or their users, marking a notable shift in Plex's service model.

The price increase will ensure that we can keep investing dedicated resources in developing new features, while supporting and growing your favorites.

Streaming personal media will no longer be a free Plex feature, and server owners and users will need a Plex Pass for access.
