New eGates at Dublin Airport to be rolled out to speed up checks electronically

The new eGates will provide a "self-service" type channel to clear immigration control for passport holders from the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK who are over 18 years of age. This modern approach aims to streamline the immigration process, allowing for quicker entry while maintaining high security standards.

Minister McEntee emphasized, "Utilising technology like Automated Border Control eGates is paramount to delivering a secure, effective, and modern Immigration Service." This highlights the government's focus on incorporating advanced technology to enhance border security.

Last year, over four million passengers who arrived at Dublin Airport were processed by the eGates operated by the Department's Border Management Unit, demonstrating the high demand and efficiency of these automated systems.

Securing this contract means we can continue to process, Irish, EU and other eligible travellers, as swiftly as possible, while conducting stringent security checks on passengers and their documents. The balance of efficiency and security is a priority in modern immigration.
