Attorneys general from about two dozen states are pursuing treble damages against Live Nation Entertainment and Ticketmaster, alleging monopolization in the concert industry.
New York Attorney General Letitia James stated, 'It's time for a new era where fans, venues, and artists are not taken advantage of by big corporations that run the world of live events.'
The DOJ argues that the 'vast scope' of Live Nation and Ticketmaster enables them to 'insert themselves at the center and the edges' of the live concert industry.
Live Nation reportedly manages over 400 artists and commands approximately 60% of concert promotions at major venues, while Ticketmaster controls most ticketing for these events.
