Microsoft has launched a feature called inline data protection for its Edge for Business browser, aimed at preventing employees from accidentally sharing sensitive company data with generative AI applications like ChatGPT and Google Gemini. The company is also enhancing collaboration security for Microsoft Teams to combat phishing threats that have exploited the platform. New security controls will help organizations manage communication risks effectively while suspicious messages are assessed in a secure environment to mitigate danger before reaching users. Additionally, Microsoft is expanding its Security Copilot offerings with new solutions.
With the new inline protection capability for Edge for Business, you can prevent data leakage across the various ways that users interact with sensitive data in the browser, including typing of text directly into a web application or generative AI prompt.
Suspicious files and URLs are automatically executed in a secure, isolated environment - a sandbox - to determine if they exhibit any malicious behavior.
