LGBTQ+ veterans are refusing to wear the Etherton Ribbons until they receive appropriate compensation for the injustices they endured in the UK armed forces.
Former soldier Stephen Close stated, 'These things need to be addressed and the wrongs put right. Then I'll be quite happy to wear the ribbon.' He noted that the badge represents a struggle that is still ongoing.
Emma Riley, a former sailor, expressed her sentiments, stating, 'It does not feel appropriate to wear the award until all the independent review's recommendations have been followed through on.'
