Landmark Admin now says info on 1.6M people stolen from it
Briefly

Landmark Admin, a Texas-based firm servicing American insurers, has revealed that the number of individuals affected by a data breach is over 1.6 million, as opposed to the initial report of 800,000. The compromised data includes sensitive personal information, but notably, no credit card details were taken. Following two breaches, where the second attack triggered a class-action lawsuit, the company is offering one year of credit monitoring and reimbursement policies to the affected individuals. The breaches highlighted the firm's struggles with its cybersecurity measures.
Landmark Admin has admitted that 1,613,773 individuals had their personal information compromised, significantly more than the initially disclosed figure of 800,000.
The stolen data involved a variety of sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, medical information, and financial account details, creating significant risks for identity theft.
Following the breaches, Landmark is now offering affected individuals 12 months of credit monitoring and managed identity theft recovery services, along with a reimbursement policy.
Despite taking immediate action after the first breach, a second attack occurred leading to a class-action lawsuit against Landmark, highlighting ongoing security challenges.
