Emilie Kiser described her 3-year-old son Trigg as the family's "baby" and "best friend," saying she searched days, weeks, months for words to capture her grief. She said Trigg brought a bright, pure, joyful spirit and that the family misses him every second. A Chandler, Arizona police report said husband Brady Kiser was home alone with Trigg and infant Theodore when Trigg fell into the backyard pool on May 12; Brady told police Trigg was playing unsupervised after Emilie left at about 6 p.m. Emilie said she takes full accountability, noted a permanent pool fence could have saved his life, and hopes the loss will prevent similar tragedies. She said she joined social media in 2021 to connect with other moms, found support and work there, but acknowledged costs of openness and that online relationships lack boundaries.
"I take full accountability as Trigg's mother, and I know I should have done more to protect him. One of the hardest lessons I carry is that a permanent pool fence could have saved his life and it's something I will never overlook again," she wrote. "I hope amidst this pain, Trigg's story will help prevent other children and families from suffering the same loss."
"The light and spirit he brought into this world was bright, pure, joyful and undeniable," she wrote. "We miss him every second of every day and continuing forward often feels unbearable."
