Home Office urged to scrap long, expensive and racist' visa route

The 10-year route visa is seen as a long and costly process, disproportionately impacting people of colour, many of whom are engaged in low-paid jobs like cleaning and care work.
According to freedom of information data obtained by the charity Ramfel, there are 218,110 people on the 10-year route, with 86% being from Asian or African countries.

A 41-year-old Ghanaian woman detailed her struggles with the 10-year route, highlighting how a delayed application caused her to lose all previously accrued time.
