The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has announced a three-day strike by Border Force agents at Heathrow Airport, starting from 31 August, over issues like enforced changes in terms and conditions.
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote emphasized the pride of Border Force agents in their work but highlighted the unfair pressure they face, stating, "Staff are being told to choose between caring responsibilities and their job."
The union indicated that the strike would likely cause severe disruption at a peak travel time, but remains hopeful that it can be avoided if the Home Office engages with their concerns.
The industrial dispute began in April, centering on inflexible rosters imposed by the employer, which has raised significant concerns among the 650 union members involved.
