Healthcare organizations need to shake up email security practices
Briefly

A recent report highlights that Microsoft 365 is responsible for nearly half of all healthcare email breaches primarily due to misconfigured security settings. Email remains the primary attack vector for healthcare organizations, with a significant number failing to implement essential security measures like DMARC and MTA-STS protections. This negligence has led to a concerning increase in ransomware attacks and indicates a critical vulnerability within the healthcare sector. The average cost of a healthcare email breach is substantial, and organizations are urged to prioritize their email security compliance to avoid costly repercussions.
According to the report, email is the main attack vector in the sector, with Microsoft 365 accounting for 43% of all breaches.
Shockingly, only 1% of the analyzed healthcare organizations had a low-risk email security posture, with three-in-ten categorized as high risk.
