Vercel's AI tool v0 makes it easy to build websites, creating opportunities for cyber attackers to exploit this technology. According to a study by Okta's Threat Intelligence team, attackers easily create fake login screens that mimic well-known companies. These replicas can be deployed quickly, posing as legitimate sites to deceive users. Attackers strategically host their resources at credible locations to avoid detection. The personal data obtained usually consists of valid login credentials, allowing cybercriminals to infiltrate systems undetected and potentially install ransomware, highlighting the lucrative nature of phishing campaigns.
Building websites with AI couldn't be easier, something cyber attackers are only too happy to exploit. This is evident from a recently published study by Okta's Threat Intelligence team.
Attackers have managed to simulate legitimate sign-ons from well-known companies. Replicas of these sites can be admired on demand and almost immediately.
According to Okta, some malicious parties choose to host all their resources at a legitimate location, which would appear more legitimate than if they were scattered across multiple locations.
The stolen information consists of legitimate credentials, allowing attackers to enter undetected during their infiltration and pose as ordinary users.
