A recent report by SC Media highlights a significant data breach involving Carruth Compliance Consulting, a retirement plan administrator. Between December 19 and 26, the Skira Team hacking group infiltrated the company, resulting in the exfiltration of sensitive information from more than 40,000 public school teachers and employees located in California, Illinois, New York, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. The stolen data includes names, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and even W-2 data and medical billing details. This incident raises serious concerns about cybersecurity in educational institutions.
