The US Attorney's Office has seized over 350 internet domains linked to Chinese operations selling illegal kits that convert semiautomatic firearms into fully automatic weapons with silencers.
Michael J Krol highlighted that cyber investigations aim to prevent illegal switches and silencers from getting into the hands of criminals, who may use these devices to facilitate crime.
Investigations have led to the confiscation of over 700 conversion devices, 87 illegal suppressors, and various firearms, with websites now displaying notifications of their seizure.
The Department of Justice emphasized the need for the 3D printing industry to combat the rise in DIY machine gun conversion activities that exploit modern technology.
