Customs and Border Protection Confirms Its Use of Hacked Signal Clone TeleMessage

Following a cyber incident, CBP disabled the app and is actively investigating the breach's scope. TeleMessage faced scrutiny after a series of breaches, prompting a temporary suspension of its services for investigation, with support from an external cybersecurity firm.
"Following the detection of a cyber incident, CBP immediately disabled TeleMessage as a precautionary measure," said CBP spokesperson Rhonda Lawson. "The investigation into the scope of the breach is ongoing."
"TeleMessage is investigating a potential security incident. Upon detection, we acted quickly to contain it and engaged an external cybersecurity firm to support our investigation," said a Smarsh spokesperson.
