CrowdStrike: Company to face questions over global IT outage
Briefly

A rogue software update by the US cybersecurity company CrowdStrike crippled up to eight and half million computers using Microsoft systems around the world, severely impacting various essential services.
Dr. Wrigley, highlighting the difficulty faced during the outage, stated it resulted in delays for cancer treatment referrals and forced GPs to resort back to pen and paper for patient management.
The BMA emphasized that the CrowdStrike outage was one of the most challenging days for GPs in England, preventing them from conducting routine patient referrals electronically.
Dr. O'Hagan from Northern Ireland noted that around 75% of GPs relied on the EMIS system, indicating that the outage left them largely unable to assist patients.
