Anker's recall notice explained that the issue stems from a manufacturing defect in the lithium-ion batteries used in their MagSafe iPhone power banks, which could lead to overheating, melting plastic components, and fire hazards.
The company emphasizes that products manufactured between January 3 and September 17 are affected, yet it is recalling all units to ensure consumer safety out of 'an abundance of caution'.
In its notice, Anker urged consumers who own affected power banks to 'immediately stop using' the devices and store them in a safe place until they can verify the serial number online.
Anker also provided guidance on proper disposal practices for the power banks, advising against throwing them in the trash to mitigate environmental impact and safety risks.
