On February 25, 2025, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend heightened erosion protections along the Colorado River below Longhorn Dam. The proposed ordinance from the Watershed Protection Department aims to extend the erosion hazard zone (EHZ) from 100 to 200 feet, impacting building regulations based on proximity to the banks. An exemption for single-family homes passed but raised concerns among some commissioners about creating a false sense of safety. Additionally, an amendment to require risk disclosure for properties within the EHZ, regardless of exemption, was also introduced.

Skidmore expressed concern that the exemption could create a 'false impression of safety' for homeowners, highlighting the need for transparency regarding risks.
