Petaluma business is moving out and giving back
Briefly

Heritage Salvage, a Petaluma business founded by Michael "Bug" Deakin, focuses on repurposing reclaimed building materials to prevent waste. After 19 years in their current location, the business faces relocation due to property development. Deakin sees this as an opportunity to support local charities through an online auction of unique items while downsizing. The auction features historical memorabilia and other one-of-a-kind pieces, with a portion of proceeds benefiting various community nonprofits, showcasing Deakin's commitment to giving back to his community.
He's taking old buildings, old wood, old stuff that normally would end up in landfill and giving it a new life, a second life, maybe a third life.
The essence of how I built Heritage Salvage was always making sure I gave back to my community, whether it's the Polly Klaas Theater, Petaluma People Services, Petaluma Bounty, Cool Petaluma.
