Peruvian fisher rescued after three months stranded at sea
Briefly

Maximo Napa, a 61-year-old Peruvian fisherman, was rescued after drifting at sea for 94 days due to bad weather that caused him to lose his course. He survived by eating whatever he could find, including cockroaches and birds, and remained determined to live for his family. Once rescued by an Ecuadoran vessel, he was hospitalized but discharged in good health. Napa's story reflects incredible resilience and hope, demonstrating the human spirit's capacity to endure even extreme challenges.
I didn't want to die, for my mother. I have a two-month-old granddaughter I clung to that. Every day I thought about my mother, Napa said.
The fisher had set out on 7 December from the port of San Juan de Marcona but bad weather conditions and the current caused him to lose course.
It is a miracle that my father has been found, his daughter Ines Napa told the RPP radio station. We, as a family, never gave up hope of finding him.
Mr Napa arrived in good physical condition. He could walk, wash himself. Shocked, but in good physical condition, said Peruvian Navy port captain Jorge Gonzalez.
