One of Hawaii's best hot dogs comes from this hidden gem
Briefly

Porky's Kauai, a hot dog eatery in Koloa, Hawaii, is known for its No. 2 hot dog, an all-beef frank topped with pulled kalua pork and pineapple, praised for its flavorful combination. Despite its past appeal, owner Justin Hier expressed surprise at the lack of long lines for the popular dish, lamenting no feature on shows like 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' to boost visibility. The restaurant, now 12 years old, expanded from a hot dog cart Hier purchased when he sought a career change, reflecting the journey from a fun project to a loved local spot.
When it's ready, I slather the whole thing with Porky's house-made sweet sauce, similar to barbecue, and take my first bite. It's as great as I remember, so flavorful and so satisfying that I can't help wondering why there aren't lines out the door from open until close. It deserves the attention.
We'll have guests say, 'Hey, I saw you on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," and I'm like, 'I wish. That wasn't us,'” Porky's Kauai owner Justin Hier told SFGATE.
The No. 2, the hot dog I was craving for years, isn't even Porky's bestseller. That title goes to its grilled cheese sandwich, made with provolone and harvarti cheeses, pulled pork, grilled onions and pineapple.
He said, 'I bought a hot dog cart for about $2,200 off of Craigslist out of some guy's garage, and I said, 'Now what do I do with this darn thing?'
Hier left Phoenix for Kauai, staying with his sister for a few months, to try the hot dog cart by the beach or at Hanapepe's Friday night Art Walk.
