In 'KAUANI,' Indigenous Mexican Flora Flourishes in Glowing Lanterns
Briefly

The KAUANI series, created by designers Inés Quezada and Inés Llasera from Tornasol Studio, showcases luminaires influenced by the botanic diversity of Mesoamerica. Inspired by native flora, the designs emulate textures from cacti, agaves, and fruits like mamey and guanabana. Cacti roots symbolize resilience, as their unique adaptations allow them to thrive in harsh environments. The lanterns fuse natural aesthetics with knitted textiles, resulting in intricate forms that hover between representation and abstraction. The installation is showcased in Mexico City until May 15.
Inés Quezada and Inés Llasera, co-founders of Tornasol Studio, created KAUANI, a series of luminaires reflecting the vibrant botanic diversity of Mesoamerica.
