The renowned Portland restaurant Canard, led by Chef Gabriel Rucker, is expanding with a new location in Beaverton, scheduled to open in fall. The team is excited about the potential of a former bakery space due to its vibrant atmosphere and distinctive character. They are confident in their choice, recognizing the building's past and envisioning a fresh start. The new Canard will resemble the family-friendly model of its Oregon City counterpart, inviting Beaverton residents to enjoy an acclaimed dining experience, supported by the nearby Nike World Headquarters.
"It had all the energy and all the feelings of, 'This can work,'" says Chef Gabriel Rucker, noting their instinct about the new location.
"When you walk in, there's the old movie theater marquee out front and a mezzanine that's still up there - it just felt like it had already lived a life," adds Taylor Daughtery.
