Bay Area man allegedly led police on chase after stopping at In-N-Out
Briefly

On March 9, a 26-year-old man was apprehended after allegedly driving under the influence at an In-N-Out in Petaluma. Initially questioned by police, he fled at high speeds, prompting a chase that was eventually called off due to safety concerns. After losing visual of him, officers were alerted to a crash involving his vehicle. He was later found hiding nearby and attempted to evade officers on foot before surrendering. The man faces multiple charges including DUI and resisting arrest.
He initially complied and parked his vehicle, but "seconds later," he drove away south on Highway 101 at "a rate of high speed," the post said.
Officers chased the suspected drunken driver for approximately 3 miles along Highway 101, the post said, before ending the chase for safety reasons due to the driver's "erratic lane changes, excessive speed, and passing other motorists on the shoulder."
Approximately 10 minutes later, PPD said the California Highway Patrol was notified of a crash near San Antonio Road and Leghorn Lane after a car hit a power pole, scattering live wires onto the road.
The driver again tried to escape arrest this time on foot, "through several creek beds, fences, and open fields," the post said.
