Dr. Freya Mowat’s research into canine eyesight has revealed that dogs can watch TV, especially with improved high-resolution screens that flicker less.
We needed to design content that was interesting to dogs, Mowat explains, highlighting that dogs cannot interpret traditional eye charts.
Mowat’s survey of over 1,200 dog owners aimed to discover what dogs preferred to watch on TV, to tailor eye tests accordingly.
The existence of Dog TV as a genre suggests that technology now allows dogs to engage visually with tailored content, enhancing their viewing experience.
