The ball slips out of Simba's mouth and drops on the floor. He looks down for a moment, then seeks his owner's attention using his paw. He tries harder with some whining, which increases when his human doesn't pay attention. It seems the requesting tone soon turns into a demanding one as an onscreen line expresses the dog's thoughts: "Hey! Pick my ball!"
Remote work has boomed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and it's still going strong. Even though more companies have been calling employees back to the office, a large share of Americans continue to work from home. In 2025, that's roughly 32.6 million people, about 22% of the national workforce. While many say remote work is flexible, budget-friendly, and overall healthier, it turns out it's not just changing people's routines. It's changing their pets' routines, too.
She thinks it is just fine to kiss it right on the nose, repeatedly. She basically kisses it, and makes this "om nom nom" noise while doing so. I think it's gross, and she thinks my reaction is funny. I honestly feel ill when she does this, and can't stand the thought of kissing her afterward unless she washes up first. She thinks that makes me a loon.
In my experience, there are two kinds of dogs out there: The ones who would love to lead their own pack in a nice, long run on a beautiful day outside, and the ones who are far happier to watch from a bench as they enjoy the breeze. My dog would be out there, running with the best of them... but I've known plenty who would take the other option (and maybe even a nap, while they're at it).
