Britain's pet owners are facing significant challenges when dissatisfied with their veterinarian, as highlighted by Which? A recent investigation revealed that the complaints process is inadequate, deterring pet owners from voicing their concerns about excessive pricing and quality of care. With many households owning pets and the veterinary sector under scrutiny, there is a pressing need for an effective complaints mechanism. Consumers often feel their issues are dismissed and struggle to escalate complaints, limiting accountability within the profession and affecting service standards.
It is completely unjust that many pet owners feel not only unhappy with the service and treatment received by their vet when their pet is taken ill, but also lack the means to make a complaint that will be properly investigated.
More than half said the price of care or treatment was excessive, while more than a quarter said the cost was higher than they thought it would be.
