A series of alarming dog attacks involving two pit bulls on the Upper West Side has left the community rattled, with reports of the dogs killing and injuring smaller pets. The latest incident occurred when the duo savagely attacked a chihuahua named Penny, drawing attention to previous assaults on other dogs, including the death of a shih tzu mix. Witness accounts describe the chaotic scenes, including bystanders' desperate attempts to intervene as the pit bull owner displayed aggression towards witnesses. This has sparked debate over the owners' responsibility and the dogs' future.
I was completely disgusted and sickened and - I hate this word - triggered, because this could have been avoided. The way the one dog was picking up Grover and shaking him like a stuffed animal... one, the dogs should get off the street.
Like, Penny's going to die and there's nothing I can do to save her. The injury involved a neighbor's attempt to help and being met with aggression from the pit bull's owner. It was an all-too-familiar scene.
