5 dogs left abandoned in Fremont to be up for adoption soon
""They were very uncomfortable with matting," Miott said. "In fact, we couldn't even see the eyes on one of them and it was almost like the dog gave up when the officer picked it up from underneath the car, so it was a really sad situation.""
""If they've reached the end of the line and there really is no options for them, for whatever reason, we can be a soft landing place for them to come," Miott said."
""Very sad, very sad state, very sad," said Fremont resident Sampath Srinivasan. "They cannot abandon dogs like that.""
Five dogs were found abandoned in Fremont within a 72-hour period and are now in the care of Tri-City Animal Shelter. The animals are believed to be three to four years old and Shih Tzu or Poodle mixes. Two dogs were left at Irvington Park, one under a car on North Grimmer Boulevard, and two near Quarry Lakes; a sixth white, fluffy dog remains at large. The dogs arrived severely matted; one dog’s eyes were obscured and appeared resigned when an officer lifted it from under a car. Shelters can provide resources and serve as a last-resort soft landing for owners with no other options. Some of the dogs will be available for adoption starting Wednesday; inquiries can be sent to animalshelter@fremont.gov.
