Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen criticized his Lidl-Trek teammates after finishing twelfth in the first stage of the 2025 Paris-Nice, where they failed to deliver him into a competitive position for the sprint. Despite recently winning the overall in Tour de la Provence, Pedersen's frustration stemmed from poor teamwork in the crucial closing kilometers. He later hoped for better teamwork and results in the subsequent stages, even while admitting mistakes were made. Pedersen noted his teammate Mattias Skjelmose's strong performance as a positive from the stage.
There's not much to analyse. It was just lousy riding, and the work being done today wasn't good enough at all. So there's not much to say.
We made some mistakes coming into the sprint, we lost each other too many times and had too much work finding each other again, so we just missed out on having a chance for sprinting.
