Togo's First Participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale Presents a Curated View of Its National Heritage
Briefly

Togo will debut its first pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice 2025, titled 'Considering Togo's Architectural Heritage.' Curated by Studio NEiDA, this exhibition will explore Togo's architectural narratives from the last century, emphasizing conservation and transformation. It aims to create a dialogue between traditional building methods and modernist techniques while highlighting the country's rich cultural legacy, including ancient dwellings, Afro-Brazilian architecture, and contemporary constructs post-independence. The focus is on the interplay of form and material in Togo's built environment, offering insights into its architectural evolution.
Togo's architectural heritage, which spans ancient clay structures to complex histories and outlandish modernist experiments, is an incredible source of inspiration for our work.
The exhibition investigates forms and materiality within West Africa's built environment, from the ancient Nôk cave dwellings to traditional techniques exemplified by the Tatas Tamberma.
