Paris police evict migrants from theatre after months-long occupation
Briefly

On Tuesday, police forcibly evacuated hundreds of young migrants who had occupied the historic Gaite Lyrique theatre in Paris for three months, demanding food and shelter. The operation, ordered by police prefect Laurent Nunez, was met with protests, as activists claimed it was a violent crackdown on peacefully protesting individuals, particularly underage migrants. While the authorities stated that the eviction was necessary for public order, assurances were provided regarding temporary shelter and legal considerations for the migrants, many of whom were from sub-Saharan Africa.
Many are underage and asked to be treated as such in their immigration process.
