Art lovers mob Paris's Pompidou Centre ahead of five-year closure
Briefly

The Pompidou Centre in Paris is set to undergo a major renovation, resulting in the temporary removal of its extensive 2,000-piece art collection. The full closure is scheduled for September 22, with artworks relocated to various museums around France and abroad. Guided by Elisa Hervelin, tourists and locals alike grasped the last chance to experience iconic pieces by artists such as Salvador Dali and Henri Matisse. The renovations will cost 262 million euros and include essential safety updates like asbestos removal.
"Five years -- it's long!" exclaimed guide Elisa Hervelin, as visitors took photos of the Pompidou Centre’s permanent works ahead of its closure for renovation.
With the closure approaching, visitors enjoyed free entrance and a variety of performances, making the most of their last time with the collection before it goes on tour.
