Manon Delafoy transformed a former Thai restaurant into OLYSSE, a tranquil coffee shop in Paris, emphasizing design elements that create a soothing atmosphere. With an ultra-compact 322 square foot space, Delafoy utilized curves and arches to enhance fluidity, making the feel spacious. The interior features a balance of matte and glossy materials, along with bespoke furnishings to optimize space. A standout sculptural bar, with a gradient effect resembling shifting sands, serves as the centerpiece, complemented by the warm tones of oak wood and traditional Zellige tiles, promoting a serene coffee experience.
Delafoy wanted to create a peaceful, quiet place in the city that was the opposite of a crowded, basic café.
The refined gradient effect of the bar is reminiscent of shifting sands, which instantly draws the eye and echoes the other wavy motifs in the establishment.
The studio focused on achieving a sense of softness and subtle movement, emphasizing curves that bring fluidity to the interior of the coffee shop.
Carefully selected materials range from matte to glossy for a delicate balance between modernity and craftsmanship in the revamped space.
