When I was growing up, it was a special treat to be allowed to have a birthday party at all. They were ALWAYS at home and not the least bit extravagant.
My birthday parties consisted of pizza, a big jug of fruit punch, and homemade sheet cake. We would play some games (like musical chairs and freeze dance) and call it a wrap!
