My kids can't stand being asked what they're going to do after they graduate from high school. There's a lot of pressure to know what they're doing after school, which stresses them out.
I conducted a very unscientific poll and found that many of their friends felt the same way. None of them liked being asked what they were planning to do next. To them, it felt like a landmine of judgment.
As a mom of four teens, I've had to chill out about their future plans. Supporting them means being okay with their different paths, even if they're not what I expected.
Part of the fun of being a parent is seeing how each of these kids develops into their own adult person. It’s a journey for them, and I have to respect that.
