Invincible's creators wanted season 3 to avoid the easy answers of Marvel's or DC's 'very clear' morality
Briefly

The superhero genre typically offers a clear divide between good and evil, making it easy for audiences to choose sides. However, Invincible challenges this convention in its third season, presenting complex characters and situations without straightforward answers. With protagonist Mark Grayson facing morally ambiguous foes and a storyline filled with ethical dilemmas, creators Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa intentionally design a narrative that deviates from the simplicity of traditional superhero tales, aiming for a more nuanced exploration of morality in their universe.
"[Invincible's] just an effort to try and show a really dense, nuanced universe that looks at these fantastical elements and superhero storytelling with kind of a realistic slant," Kirkman says over video chat.
"There's a very clear line of, These guys are good and these guys are bad, and every now and then you're watching those movies and you're like, I think Michael B. Jordan is right in Black Panther."
