When I asked my husband for help, he simply said whatever I wanted to do "wasn't necessary." If I wanted to do it, he said, I could. But he'd rather go without the holiday magic than lend a hand.
Even though we lived separately, we still celebrated holidays together as a family. And despite my best intentions, I was still writing "From Mom & Dad" on my kids' presents. Why? Because I didn't want my children to feel like their dad didn't care about them.
