Dear Happy Without Him, It seems to me that you probably chose to marry a pushy and selfish person in part because you were raised by pushy and selfish people.
I've mostly dealt with this whole thing by minimizing in-person visits to my parents and hanging up the phone every time the conversation touches the topic.
