Gen Z might be ditching college, but parents still think it's worth the cost

Today, 74% of parents are saving for college compared to 58% in 2007. 77% believe a college education is worth the cost, although 30% are unsure about future costs.
93% of parents are worried about rising college costs and plan to cover two-thirds but are only on track for 30% of their funding goal, posing financial challenges.
"While parents prioritize their children's college education, balancing day-to-day expenses with long-term savings can be daunting," said Tony Durkan, Fidelity Investments' VP of 529 Relationship Management.
