California bill proposes new standards for court-ordered parenting classes after Times investigation

The fact that [quality] is not ever measured or evaluated or considered nearly as much as it is just making sure parents complete them ... I think we're doing a disservice.
The legislation, authored by Assemblymember Isaac Bryan (D-Los Angeles), would require that any parenting classes ordered by judges in child welfare cases be evidence-based, 'culturally competent' and provided by qualified professionals.
